Meet Dr. Hermetet

Dr. Katrina Hermetet is a licensed clinical psychologist and nationally certified school psychologist with advanced training in pediatric psychology and expertise spanning medical, clinical, and school-based care. She completed a clinical psychology residency with training across the lifespan.

Her work focuses on the intersection of health, behavior, and daily functioning, with particular expertise in supporting individuals with medical conditions, including Tourette syndrome and related neurodevelopmental disorders. She utilizes evidence-based approaches such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Comprehensive Behavioral Intervention for Tics (CBIT), with an emphasis on practical, skills-based care that translates into meaningful improvements in everyday life.

Dr. Hermetet has held senior leadership roles within both healthcare and national organizations. She previously served as Vice President of Medical and Scientific Affairs at the Tourette Association of America, where she led national initiatives in clinical education, research, and program strategy across a multi-site Centers of Excellence network. Prior to this, she served as Division Chief of Neurobehavioral Health at Akron Children’s Hospital, where she founded and led a nationally recognized Center of Excellence and referral program for complex tic disorders.

Her background in school psychology is extensive and foundational to her work. She previously worked as a school psychologist within the Philadelphia school system and served as Clinical Director of a School Success Clinic within a major pediatric health system, developing integrated models of care across medical and educational settings. She has advanced training in special education law and has delivered national and invited grand rounds on supporting students with medical and neurodevelopmental conditions within school systems. This expertise informs a specialized consultation approach focused on IEPs, 504 plans, accommodations, and effective collaboration with schools.

Dr. Hermetet is a national and international speaker and has been featured as a clinical expert in major national media outlets, including The New York Times, National Public Radio, HuffPost, and AARP. Her work focuses on translating complex clinical and research insights into accessible, practical guidance for patients, families, and professionals.
